Setting up Metamask for Avalanche
Avalanche is an open-source platform for launching decentralized applications and enterprise blockchain deployments in one interoperable, highly scalable ecosystem.
It features 3 built-in blockchains, the exchange chain (X-chain), platform chain (P-chain) and contract chain (C-chain).

The X-Chain acts as a decentralized platform for creating and trading digital smart assets, a representation of a real-world resource
The P-Chain is the metadata blockchain on Avalanche and coordinates validators, keeps track of active subnets, and enables the creation of new subnets.
The C-Chain is an instance of the Ethereum Virtual Machine powered by Avalanche.
In order to interact with Avalanche, you need AVAX tokens, similar to ETH and BNB.
In this guide, we will walk through how to set up Metamask for Avalanche.
Install the Metamask Extension from the Store
Visit the browser extension marketplace and download the MetaMask extension.
Create a MetaMask Wallet or Import One
I’d suggest creating a new one if you haven’t done so.
Click import wallet if you have an existing wallet.
Setup your password and secret recovery phrase somewhere safe.
Setup MetaMask to connect to Avalanche Mainnet
Switch the connected blockchain by clicking on the tab saying Main Ethereum Network, we need to add the Avalanche network.

2. A new window will open up, showing a list of predefined networks. From that list, click on the Add button next to the Avalanche network.
3. When prompted, click Approve.
4. A pop-up window will display a message according to which the network was added successfully while providing the option to switch to the Avalanche network.
Note: Core —the secure crypto wallet designed by Ava Labs— comes preloaded with a connection to the Avalanche network, which makes the following step unnecessary. Get a better experience: Get Core today.
As additional info, the parameters of the Avalanche network are:
Network Name: Avalanche Network
ChainID: 43114
Symbol: AVAX
Explorer: https://snowtrace.io/ (Note: the video still uses the previous value; Please be assured that snowtrace.io is the correct value).
Send AVAX to the MetaMask Wallet connected to Avalanche
Now that you’ve set up MetaMask on Avalanche, you may wish to transfer some AVAX to your brand-new hot wallet. Here’s how that process works:
If you have funds on the P- or X-Chain, you'll need to move them to the C-chain before they can be sent to MetaMask. Please read our article on Cross Chain Transfers for instructions on how to do so.
Once your funds are on the C-Chain, you can send the AVAX from your Avalanche wallet to your MetaMask wallet.

Для удобства при работе с Метамаском, разверните кошелек в полноэкранный режим, для этого кликните на три точки под изображением вашего аккаунта и выберете пункт «Развернуть вид».
После этого, в выпадающем меню сетей, кликните пункт – «Добавить сеть». По умолчанию выбрана сеть Ethereum Mainnet.
В открывшемся окне введите данные о сети по образцу ниже, под скриншотом они доступны в текстовом виде для копирования.

Новый URL RPC: https://api.avax.network/ext/bc/C/rpc
Идентификатор цепочки: 43114
Символ валюты: AVAX
URL-адрес проводника блока: https://snowtrace.io/
После ввода данных сети нажмите кнопку «Сохранить», после этого сеть будет доступна в выпадающем списке.
Пополнить кошелек Метамаск монетами AVAX можно несколькими способами:
- купить токены на бирже Huobi(самый простой вариант);
- перевести токены с другого кошелька;
- купить токены в обменнике и перевести на Метамаск.
Самый безопасный и простой вариант — купить AVAX на бирже Huobi, а после перевести их на свой Метамаск. На Бинансе покупку можно сделать при помощи кредитных и дебетовых карт (Visa, MasterCard) или в P2P (от пользователя к пользователю) платформе в которой биржа выступает гарантом сделки.
