Transfer your EOS to Ledger Nano S

I been waiting for a proper guide that shows exactly how i can move my EOS from my wallet (using Greymass) to my ledger nano s and finally i found a guide that is very good.
I take no credit for the work of course but rather i like to share the information here for others looking for a way to move their coins to Ledger. Ok your not actually moving the tokens but you get my point 🙂
And before i share the links i like to thank Cypherglass who actually made the videos!

So this transfer is done in 2 steps:

Step1: Involves actually downloading the EOS app on the ledger and setting up an EOS account connected to your ledger. Here is the video showing the exact steps:

Step2: Transfer the account from PC (Greymass wallet) to you ledger. Here is the video showing the exact steps:

Note: Be very careful doing copy/paste! if you put the wrong key you will loose access to your EOS!

How to add EOS account to your Ledger Nano X/S using Anchor wallet (easiest and fastest way)

$0.95 USD as of this writing) to pay for your new Ledger EOS account.
I’ll also cover this later in the article.
On EOS, you have to use resources, and this is the minimal amount of what is needed to create an account for now. The good news is after this, EOS mainnet is free to use if you use the best wallets available. Little hint: The Power Up model is currently launching. After it’s live, all the transaction fees will go directly to token holders. After the update it’s still free to use and you get profits also!

First of all, you need to set up your Ledger in order to make a new account in it. If you need more info on Ledger setup, you can find it here.
You need also to update your Ledger’s firmware.

After you’ve successfully completed your Ledger setup, you want to open the Ledger Live software on your computer and click the “Manager” tab so you can download the EOS app, and add it to the Ledger.

After successful installation, you need to find the EOS public key on your Ledger in order to make a new account with that key.
(Ledger can’t make an account on your behalf)
For that, you need to download the Anchor wallet. It’s the best desktop EOS wallet for many reasons: it has the best developers from Greymass, which is a trusted EOS block producer that has Block.one’s support. The wallet is going to be soon live on Android (already is on iOS). It’s the only wallet that provides free transactions and Ledger support, and it’s quite easy to use.

Close Ledger Live (for me, it causes EOS app on Ledger Hardware wallet to crash, and still, it may take two times to connect to Anchor Wallet). Then start the EOS app on Ledger Hardware Wallet, click the green button-Enable Ledger Support.

You can skip this section if you already are level 99 EOS Wizard, otherwise follow these steps carefully. The best, easiest and frictionless way to pay for your account creation is to download the Wombat wallet. Wombat will give you a free account as I’m currently writing this. Also, Wombat doesn’t require KYC (know your customer) documents for identity verification, so you can directly buy EOS on MoonPay via Wombat wallet.

Then you just need to send those 0.3111 EOS to that address that bloks.io gave you. Don’t forget the memo! After confirming your transaction (tx), your Ledger account will be fully functioning.

Then again, unlock your Ledger and open EOS app on it. Open the Anchor wallet, click “setup a wallet”, choose your password and select EOS blockchain.

Congratulations! Now you can be 100% sure that you’re secure from viruses, hackers and phishing sites, so nobody can connect to this wallet without your Ledger. You can also connect your Ledger by using your smartphone.

Be safe and sound, the blockchain space is full of scammers and hackers who try to steal your hard-earned crypto. Best of luck to you all.

How to Create and Manage EOS Account on Your Ledger. Stake EOS to Earn Rewards

Okay, you have just got a new Ledger device and can’t wait to start using it?

Or maybe you have your Ledger set up already but struggling to create an EOS account and connect it to your Ledger? This Guide will help in both scenarios.

We use Ledger Nano X, but the EOS account creation steps are the same for other types of Ledger.

To create an EOS account, you will need approximately 0.3 EOS (transferred from a crypto exchange or another account. This is a one-time fee for EOS account creation. There are free methods to create an EOS account, but they might require more effort in order to generate keys and further setup, so let’s proceed with the easiest option in this guideline.

Let’s begin with Ledger setup, install the software required and then proceed to account creation using the bloks.io dashboard.

1) Download and install the Ledger Live application. Learn more about Ledger setup here .

2) Launch the Ledger Live app and set up your device if you haven’t done it before:

A. Accept Terms and Conditions

B. Choose your Ledger type

C. Set up a new device or connect your Ledger to the app using a recovery phrase. Your private key is stored within your device. You must be the only one to own it to be in control of your funds. Ledger works as a “cold storage”. This means that it never exposes a private key online, even when using the app.

D. Follow the app guide steps and set up a PIN code (2 to 8 digits) and recovery phrase. Store your recovery phrase written on a paper in some secure place. Don’t share it with anyone!

E. After setting up your new Ledger, upgrade the firmware, if needed, in the Ledger Live app.

F. In the Ledger Live/Manager, install apps you want to use. Let’s search for EOS and install it.

3) Download and install Anchor Wallet App.

The Anchor wallet provides EOSIO-based DeFi access and is available on both mobile and desktop platforms. Before starting, install the client on your computer:

Install the program and run it. The wallet will be installed automatically — all that remains is to create an account. To do so, on the initial screen, click Setup an Account.

Create and enter a strong password that is used to access encrypted wallet files, then store it in a safe place: on paper or in a password manager. Create a strong password – the more symbols you use and the more varied they are, the better.

A list of blockchains that Anchor wallet supports will open. Choose the EOS blockchain.

4) Enable Ledger service in the Anchor app.

5) Create an account and copy the public key in a few simple steps:

Go to Bloks.io and choose Wallet → Create Account.

Choose the account name (12 symbols long, only lowercase letters a-z or numbers 1-5).

Write down and store in a secure place your private key – you will need it further on. Copy and save your public key.

Once all fields are filled, you will see the notification:

Use one of the proposed methods to finish the account creation.

Important: when sending EOS from the exchange to the address mentioned, make sure to use the proposed recipient’s address, and don’t forget about the memo !

For the 2nd method, you can transfer EOS with the help of Wombat Wallet, Scatter, etc.

6) After the transaction is done, open the Anchor wallet again.

A. Press Enable Ledger Wallet button (the green icon with USB)

B. Select Import an existing Account.

C. Select Import an existing Private Key.

D. Import the Private Key you copied before from the bloks.io dashboard.

E. Import the @active account (you can also import the @owner account, yet you’ll require @active for most of the operations).

F. Confirm your password to continue.

7) If interested in staking/voting in order to earn rewards in EOS, follow the steps described in our Guide How to Earn Rewards in EOS by Voting for Proxy (Using Anchor Wallet) .

In EOS, proxies are given the right to vote for BPs using the delegated votes of the holders. To get the reward, vote for proxies like the one from Everstake ( “everstakeone” ). In case you stake and vote for ‘everstakeone’ proxy, the yield is 2-3%.

When using Ledger, you can be confident about the safety of your crypto savings. Ledger also protects you from hackers, malicious software, and attacks. No one can access your account from the network! Just make sure not to lose your recovery phrase and store it securely.

How to use your current EOS account on the Ledger Nano S

The Ledger Nano S allows you to safely store the EOS private keys that control your EOS accounts. Your private key is stored directly in the Ledger Nano S and is never exposed, so your EOS will always be safe!

How can you set up your Ledger Nano S with your EOS account?

Once you have those, you can open your Ledger Live app and connect your Ledger Nano S. Now you will need to install the EOS app from the ‘App catalog’ and then download the Ledger Nano S client for the EOS blockchain – Fairy Wallet. You can download Fairy Wallet from tarassh’s Github .

Setting Up Fairy Wallet:

Open Fairy Wallet

Connect to the mainnet using one of the following nodes:

3. You will be asked to enter your Ledger Nano S public key; retrieve your public key by clicking the key icon.

4. Next click ‘Verify’. On your Ledger you should see your public key. If everything is okay you can confirm by clicking the check button and continue.

6. Now that you have your EOS public key connected with your Ledger device, you need to change the permissions of your existing EOS account. To do this we recommend using Scatter + MyEOSKit.com.

8. Paste in the ‘New Owner Key’ or the ‘New Active Key’ in the EOS public key spot of your Ledger that the Ledger Nano S provided you (if you have attached your active key you will not be able to change your owner key).

9. Double and triple check that you have pasted the right public key, otherwise you will lose access to your account.

10. Click ‘Update Auth’ – and Done! You should have successfully changed your EOS Account keys with the key pair of your ledger, so you are now able to manage your EOS account from the Ledger Nano S EOS client – Fairy Wallet.

Remember that at this time Fairy Wallet still doesn’t allow you to change keys, so you won’t be able to change your EOS keys anymore. Hopefully that functionality will come soon. If you like to use Scatter to interact with Dapps, I suggest you create another active key for your EOS account that you will only use with Scatter!
